The Betty Johnson Memorial Alumna Award

In 1984, a very prestigious award was initiated and presented to a Redskinette Alumna. The honoree was Betty Johnson. The award represented her dedication, loyalty, enthusiasm, esprit de corps, comradeship, talent, love, and devotion to the many faceted aspects and art of being a "Redskinette." Betty gave unselfishly of her time and energy to advance the sport of professional cheerleading.
Betty Johnson helped found the Redskinettes in 1962, and was a member for 22 years. Her passion, zeal, and vitality made her an outstanding member of performer who gained the admiration and respect of the squad. Sadly, Betty passed away in February 1985. The Alumni have affectionately dedicated this award as an annual tribute in the name and spirit of Betty Johnson.
Each year, the "Betty Johnson Memorial Award" will be bestowed on a Redskinette Alumna who typifies the attributes described.
